Empress Adrina's Story Time

28th July, 2004. 7:22 pm. Possibly Chapter one of a book? I wish!

I just wrote this off the top of my head. The idea came to me while i was walking, let me know what you think, or if you have any sugestions on how to improve it. Hopefully more to come soon.

Computers, what an excellent invention. The only technology that I prize more than computers is the internet, which of course is dependant upon computers. The uses of the internet are almost infinite. On the practical side you have instant access to news, weather, communication, and my favourite, shopping. You also have internet banking, investing, and many other financial based options. On the less practical side of course there are games of every shape, size, variety, and difficulty.
Why is shopping my favourite? Probably because it’s of the most use to me. In decades past shopping was a massive hassle, what with stores all closing so early. In the winter this isn’t as much of a problem, but in the summer when the days are long and the nights so short, it was just annoying. But now I can shop at anytime, for anything my little heart might desire, and I can have it delivered to my door. No more hassle of store hours, most excellent. Of course home delivery is somewhat costly, but to one with my resources details like price mean nothing to me. Which brings me to another marvel of the internet, it’s use as a money making and managing marvel.
The financial tools available on the internet save valuable time, and also cut out the need of so many middle-men. Although most people like me prefer to let mortal agents handle their financial affairs, even sometimes their shopping, I prefer to rely on myself. Of course in days past I did need these mortal agents, but modern technology has allowed me to deal with most of these affairs independently, which I thoroughly enjoy.
Automated bill payments, seemingly infinite stock information, and of course the ability to invest online makes it possible for me to make vast sums of money with relatively little input of time and effort. It is possible to loose considerable amounts of money this way as well, but life experience has taught me a great deal, since I’ve had so much of it.
Of course lightning speed world wide communication is also a marvellous and useful tool. E-mail, instant messengers, chat rooms, voice and video chats, are all astonishingly awesome tools that people even a few decades ago could not have believed possible. Of course few people now remember the days when a letter to your mother in the next town might take weeks to get there, and communications with people in other countries were next to impossible, but I remember, and believe me, it was a major annoyance.
Games are another lovely features of the internet and computers. Other functions of a computer that doesn’t require the internet? Word processors, music and movie players, music mixing programs, computerized books, and the list goes on. Word processors are wonderful things, in fact I’m using one at this very moment. Every year they gain more features, word count, spell check, font size, word art, where will it end?
Now I believe it is time to stop ranting on about technology and prepare for the evening ahead, for I have much to do tonight. It’s now time for the evening rituals.
Current apparel, flannel pyjamas, not acceptable for the tasks ahead. Time to dig through the dresser. Pants, ah yes form fitting, flared, dark denim, cargo pockets, splendid. Almost all my pants have cargo pockets, for I’m an avid lover of pockets. What’s next, ah yes, a shirt could come in handy. Black, spaghetti strap, tight cotton-spandex mix, what a marvel these modern fabrics are. Socks, knee-high, striped, very wicked witch of the west style, excellent.
Now that I’m properly attired it’s time for the evening bathroom rituals, which I dislike, but are quite necessary to one of my ‘species’. Did I mention I’m a vampire? Ah yes, child of the night, blood drinker, blood demon, and many hundreds of others, depending on your inclination and background, though vampire is my current favourite. Whatever you call me, my current state of existence makes it necessary for me to take precautions to hide what I am. This task is much simpler now than it was in days past, again thanks to the wonderful ingenuity of the human species to which I once belonged.
My unnaturally bright, gleaming eyes are easily dealt with thanks to the modern technology of coloured contacts. I have boxes of different colours, although my favourite is my natural colour of blue.
Milky white flawless skin is easily masked by the wonderful invention of spray on tan lotions. I’m not sure what the elder ones did hundreds of years ago, I’m glad I wasn’t this white then. Luckily the whiteness comes with age.
Thankfully my hair doesn’t need modification, at least not yet, though as I become older and stronger this may change. For now I simply turn my waist length mane into a shiny black braid.
With my rituals complete I check myself out in the mirror. I stand 5 feet and 9 inches tall, monstrously large for the era in which I was born though perfect for this modern age. My figure is not dangerously thin as is the fashion in this age, though neither is there any fat to it as has always been the case. Long legs and lots of curves describes me quite well I believe.
Throw on some jewellery, watch, necklace, a few silver rings, handful of plastic bracelet’s, and down the stairs I go. I slip my feet into a pair of black and silver Vans, and grab for my jacket. Oh how I love this jacket, ankle length, black, buttons all the way up, small collar, and of course many large pockets, perfection. Many vampires attempt to cling to the clothing of their birth age, but not I. I love the freedom, comfort, and practicality of modern attire. Have you ever tried to hunt in a hoop skirt and corset?
I open the door and I’m greeted by a meowing mass of black fluff. Oh yes, I’ve forgotten to feed the cats. Into the kitchen I go with two black fur balls in tow. Most animals shy away from vampires, but not these two. Such wondrous beasts these felines are. I much prefer their company to that of humans, either alive or otherwise.
Right, cats are fed, I’m ready, lets go.

4th June, 2004. 9:39 pm. Introduction

This is going to be my journal for writting stories, rants, and other random crap that just doesn't fit into my other journal that is about life basically. Also seperating them will make it easier for me to find the things I want and so on and so forth. I doubt this will be updated nearly as often as my other one, but hopefully it will be entertaining.
Don't actually have any stories to write at the moment, but I should soon since i have nothing better to do at work than think up story ideas all day.

Current mood: creative.
Current music: Melissa Auf Der Maur - My Foggy Notion.
